Who would be the big spoon?

I think Erik would be the big spoon.

My headcanon is that Charles likes to be held when he sleeps.
The voices in Charles’ head are heightened at night, when everything else is clam. When he was young, frightened, wary and shivering in bed all night, he’d just wanted someone to hug him and make those voices go away. A mind he could focus on, hide in and forget everything else. But his mother was never going to be that person. Funnily enough, Erik is. The crook between Erik’s neck and shoulder is the safest place to sleep in for Charles, and Erik’s mind is calming beyond words.

For Erik, nothing or nobody has belonged to him. One way or another, whatever he touches perishes. But Charles is made of sterner stuff. He’s the only person Erik can look at call ’mine’. Erik doesn’t want to lose him.
And unconsciously, all Erik can do to not lose Charles is keep him close and hold him tight to his chest.

Also, I like the symmetry of it, Erik physically embracing Charles, while Charles mentally embraces Erik

Who would wake up first?

Erik, i think, owing to his days on the run. He’d be the first to wake up and go out for a run or a workout.
Post accident, Charles wakes up with him, as it requires him more time to get ready for Class.

Do they have nicknames for each other?

Sometimes, when they’re sappy. Erik always reverts to German. ’Schatz,’ mostly.
Charles calls Erik ‘darling’ or ‘love’.
Erik pretends he doesn’t like it, but he really can’t help the tug his heart gives when Charles calls him ‘love’.

What happened when they met each other’s parents?

This would be a hypothetical situation or an AU I suppose (where no-one dies and everyone lives)
Eddie instantly adopts Charles to be his other son and complains that Erik hasn’t been feeding Charles well.
Sharron is her distant self when she meets Erik. Charles confronts his mother for being condescending towards Erik, while Brain tries to maintain peace. At the end of the night, Brain takes Erik outside to speak to him personally and requests him to take good care of his son. The sincerity and honesty with which Erik promises he will wins Brian over.

How do they apologize after an argument?

Though Erik is extremely stubborn and wouldn’t compromise with anyone else, surprisingly, he’s the first to apologise when they fight.
He’s bad with words, so he reverts to neutral ground: chess.
Charles pretends to be still mad with Erik and won’t look at him, but practically melts under Erik’s intense gaze and sincere apology.
It’s pretty much your DOFP plane scene or the Paris chess Proposal scene. lol. :D

What would they be like as parents?

Charles is the one the kids go to for guidance/ moral support/ emotional troubles/ when they’re feeling down.
Erik’s the one they go to when they get in trouble and want to hide it form Charles or when they want to learn how to ride a bike or how to drive a car.
Surprisingly, Charles is a stickler for manners and language and being presentable. Erik’s more like… ‘the kid said a bad word today? So?’

Who is more romantic?

Charles is more romantic at heart. But Erik is with actions.
Erik will do thoughtful things without intending it to be romantic, but are just that.
He’ll make tea for Charles everyday, fluff up Charles’ pillow or give him a scalp or back message when he has a headache. He’ll make sure Charles eats three square meals and sleeps adequately during exam season and doesn’t complain when Charles steals the entire blanket while they sleep.
Nobody has ever done that for Charles, and no amount of candle light dinners or flowers or chocolates can trump that when it comes to romance.

What sort of gifts do they get for each other?

Books mostly. They’re very boring like that. At least, that’s what Raven thinks.
Occasionally, Erik will see a cardigan or jumper while in town and bring it home for Charles.
Charles will do he same when he sees a fedora or a leather jacket or a pair of boots Erik might like.

Who gets jealous easiest?

Erik. Definitely Erik. But Charles is no less. Though he doesn’t get jealous very easily, his streaks of jealously are more intense.

Who gets more excited for events e.g.. Birthdays, Christmas?

Charles!

Who is the most adventurous?

When it comes to something physical, then Erik. The mansion life, though amazing, is occasionally stifling, especially for a Nazi hunter who’s been on the run all his life. So Erik grabs any opportunity he gets to get physical.
Charles is more adventurous in bed.

Who is the most protective?

Both are, in their own ways. Erik is very protective in the physical sense- as in he doesn’t let Charles strain himself too much on Cerebro, he doesn’t trust anybody else with Charles’ well being, or with the well being of the people he loves.
But Charles is very protective of Erik’s feelings and his past. Nobody dares talk shit about Erik around Charles. Not even think.

What would they have been like as childhood sweethearts?

Absolute sweethearts! Messy, and complicated and clueless and angsty and pining sweethearts, but sweethearts nonetheless!! :D
